Summary | In order to assist traders in confirming the actual costs of each route, the government monitored the cost control focus and the direction of cost reduction in order to enhance business performance. The automobile and bus industry’s route-specific calculation system has been listed as one of the accompanying measures for promoting public transportation development. It is expected that through the implementation of this system, in addition to assisting traders in confirming and monitoring route-specific costs, a more reasonable cost assessment basis can be provided regarding automobile and bus transportation basic fare setting and review work such as subsidies for operating losses incurred on service-based remote routes. A trial run on the automobile and bus route-specific cost calculation system commenced on January 1, 2000. It was officially implemented on July 1, 2020. In conjunction with the implementation of this system, the Institute of Transportation has developed application software for the motor carrier industry and the competent authority. The third edition of the application software was released in December 2007 for use by the motor carrier industry and competent authorities to carry out cost analysis and present reports. In response to updates to the Windows operating system, this project had updated the application software to Version 4 while conducting training and providing technical consulting services to aid the industry in updating and using the system software. |
