Summary The Institute of Transportation (IOT) has announced the "e-Traffic Service (e-iot.iot.gov.tw)-National Traffic Information Center" web service in November 2004. Until now, the IOT has assisted 23 city/county governments in Taiwan to join the real-time traffic information on-line report system. The contents of all of the real-time traffic information includes traffic accident information reported by the Police Bureau, road construction information reported by the Public Works Bureau and Economic Development Bureau, and the traffic signal failure and traffic jam condition reported by the Department of Transportation. Meanwhile, the "National Traffic Information Center" also integrated the traffic information from the National Expressway Bureau, Directorate General of Highways and urban traffic information from local governments to make the information more complete.

For broadening the scope of the National Traffic Information Center, through this project, we will keep maintaining the system and the RDS-TMC system. In addition, we will mark out the future plan of the National Traffic Information Center to provide complete and correct real-time traffic information. Until September 2010, there were 165 industry owners who applied for information usage and value-added units (including 44 broadcasters, five TV companies, 26 government units, 35 research units and 55 value-added companies), which extensively provides transportation, navigation, logistics, communication industries and government academic units with value-added usage. Various industry owners have launched related RDS-TMC system products, and the implementation results are also included on the “National Traffic Information Center” website for further application usages.
