| Summary | According to the “Master Plan of Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction” drawn up by the Executive Yuan, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) presides over the works of transportation sector by cooperating with the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) which is in charge of the mobile emission regulations, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) which is in charge of the energy efficiency standards.The MOTC has been paying much attention on traffic management and public transportation strategies to fulfill energy conservation and Greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in transportation sector. Meanwhile, the “White Book of Green Transportation” was published in 2012 to declare the guideline to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions in transportation sector.
The major result of this study include: (1) Review the domestic and foreign green transport policies, (2) synthesize the performance of energy conservation and carbon reduction of the measures taken by MOTC, (3) Check the effectiveness of “White Book of Green Transportation”, (4) Propose the green transport strategies for MOTC in next stage. The finding of this study can serve as reference for the promotional and implementation activities of the transportation sector. |
