| Summary | The government now is actively promoting the tourism industry and various tourism activities. The Executive Yuan not only treats Taiwan’s tourism as one of development plan for six key emerging industries but also strongly promotes Project Vanguard for Excellence in Tourism. Based on Taiwan’s solid Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and well Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) improvement by Ministry of Transportation and Communications in recent years, the IOT proposes this project, enhancing tourism and the enjoyment of life in i3 Travel Love with Travelling, to deepen the intelligent traffic management and information services in 2012. The project coordinates traffic management strategies, controls and information between different traffic management centers and information centers to provide the public with a seamless traffic information services and integrated traffic management platform. The project is to achieve the following objectives and looks forward to applying its research and demonstration results to other national scenic areas.
The project has completed the review of the preliminary plans for the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area and access roads traffic management and information services. Then proposed the solid traffic guidance and diversion services including investigating and monitoring, and to validate their operating mechanisms and procedures. The project has applied the overall planning, coordination mechanism and roadside equipment resources to achieve the modeling test of the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area traffic management and information service systems and to ensure that systems support high-quality, low-carbon and intelligent tourist transportation services in order to increase the features of the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. According to the review of the field test and the analysis of the before-and-after quantitative benefits of applying traffic guidance and diversion services, the project recommended the procedure of the traffic management and traffic information services, included the data collection, data process, traffic information dissemination, and the field test planning. Finally the project indicated the combination effect in theory and practice. |
