Summary | Published in November 2004 IOT SERIAL No. 93-108-5261, 152pp. To develop the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) for more effective and extensive use, an up-to-date digital traffic network data is needed. Therefore, the Institute of Transportation (IOT) has proposed a long-term project to maintain and update the digital map of traffic network continually and systematically. Based on “The New Century National Transportation Road Network Digital Atlas version 1.0”, this project aims to update the data and research on related methodology. The updated information of digital map includes several kinds of data, such as roads, railways, rapid transit system, district margins, rivers, lakes, landmarks, bridges, tunnels, and so on. In the research on methodology, new technology of high resolution satellite image and GPS vehicle tracking system (eLocation) have been integrated to improve the quality of digital map. Finally, we successfully updated the data and adjusted some map layers and data structures of the previous version. A comparison of these two versions has been made, too. Besides, executive rules for future maintenance were also suggested. The final product of this project is a set of latest traffic-network digital map data. All the new data are provided in three coordinate systems (TWD67TM2, TWD97TM2, TWD97), and the coordinate-transformation programs are also available. |
