Summary | Published in December 2003 IOT SERIAL No.92-117-5250,104pp. This research is an extension of a previous study in traffic accident database analysis and design, using GIS for traffic accident analysis. It is also part of the sustainable transportation information system, which is used as the decision support for the public sector to evaluate the policy performance in transportation safety, regional development, long–term transportation management. The techniques of GIS and data mining are employed in this research. Oracle’s spatial and data mining modules, ODM, are adopted to evaluate the feasibility of using OpenGIS and data mining for traffic accident analysis under the Open environment. “Geocoded” traffic accidents using street address in urban area and using milepost in the highway system are processed and analyzed under the OpenGIS architecture. Besides, the ODM module to perform the data mining has also been processed. |
