Summary | Published in June 2003 IOT SERIAL No.92-71-750,164pp. Harbor facilities are generally classified as steel-structured and reinforced concrete according to constructing materials. Because of exposure to marine aggressive environment all year long, facilities are easily corroded, deteriorated and damaged. Their deterioration and safety have been much concerned than ever. Based on physical requirement, this study is especially focused on the durability on steel- structured and the reinforced concrete structures. The results in the first-year study indicated that wharf steel-piles at Kee-Lung, Taichung, Suo-Au and Hwa-liang Ports generally have lower corrosion rates if cathodic protection system were applied to steel-piles. However, a few sheet-piles exposed at atmospheric area, at wharf #5 and #6 of Hwa-Liang, have been severely corroded and holed. As to concrete, applying microsilite as mixture in concrete-mixing enhanced durability. |
