| Summary | In this study, the thinking of Neo-Confucian rationality was adopted to derive comprehensive suggestions of ticket rates for Taiwan Railway Administration(TRA). The in-depth review and analyses of the accounting and statistical data of TRA were conducted. A new fare system in which base rate and mileage rate are separated was designed and proposed for the use of substituting the existing one. There are three pricing schemes in the new fare system including flat fare zone (applicable for commuting in metropolitan areas), discriminated fare zone between different classes of trains (applicable in out-of-metropolitan areas), and transitionary fare among multiple zones to cope with the need of TRA in practice. |
