| Summary | This project is one of the MOTC’s ITS projects, which mainly focuses on "Intelligent Traveler Information Services". The objective is to provide real time traffic information of the national/provincial highway to pre-trip or in-trip travelers for better decision-making in route choice, and consequently to relieve traffic congestion and elevate travel quality. Implementation of this pilot project not only provides real time traffic information to road users, but also establishes the information sharing mechanism for system integration company for their value-added applications development. Major accomplishments include: (1) the establishment of "Real Time Traffic Information Database in the National/Provincial Highways", (2) the announcement of database format of "Real Time Traffic Information Database in the National/Provincial Highways", (3) providing communication interface for database access , (4) development of "Traffic Information System via Web GIS", (5) development of "Intelligent Traffic Information Interactive Voice Response System", (6) suggestions and recommendations regarding the perspective of data source, database, communication channel and end user’s applications. |
