| Summary | In order to reduce the rate of bus accidents, the authorities are actively working on measures to improve and study the feasibility of a professional transportation manager approval mechanism in Taiwan. Therefore, this study has discussed current domestic occupational certification/licensing, analyzed domestic related laws and regulations, and collected related training contents applied in other business industries. On the other hand, this study has discussed the role and function of a professional transportation manager and proposed some concrete suggestions. The results of this study suggested that strengthening the present occupational certification, and providing professional drivers with useful pre-job and on-job educational training so as to promote their professional ability and knowledge, to encourage positive development in the transportation industry. In addition, the authorities could also be responsible for assisting transportation enterprises to enhance their overall operational efficiency and security management. In order to do that, this study suggested that: In the short-term, based on the guidance and assistance, the government can encourage private sectors or transportation associations to provide knowledge enhancement and professional certification programs. In the middle/long-term, in view of public safety and interests concerns, if it is accepted by the transportation operators and consumers, the authority can amend related laws and regulations, to establish a formal mechanism of transportation professional manager licensure. |
