Summary | In recent years, the relevant international maritime conventions have expressly provided the contents of port state control. Also, regional memoranda of understanding have adopted certain measures to implement port state control. Port state control has a greater impact on port operations and shipping practices than before. This study therefore analyzes the provisions of port state control, relevant laws and conventions, current situations of port state control in major shipping countries, and the measures which have been taken by famous shipping companies. It also provides suggestions which can be adopted by port authorities and the shipping industry of our country. |
