| Summary | The mixing of motorcycles and cars in the traffic is very unusual in most other countries, yet it is a serious problem in our domestic traffic. It not only affects traffic order and efficiency, but also threatens traffic safety. Hence, establishing theories for motorcycle transport engineering would help to increase road safety and traffic order. Furthermore, it will be helpful in the designing of motorcycle lane and relevant analyses of motorcycle flows. In this study, characteristics of motorcycle flows will be discussed. Following these analyses, the design vehicle size, the reasonable motorcycle lane width for different speeds, the discharging pattern on intersection, and the saturation flow rate are proposed for the future designing of motorcycle lane. |
