Summary | The recent completion of many transportation facilities increases the density of transportation network in Taiwan. The amount of transportation facilities, which are in need of maintenance, as well as the cost and management of transportation assets is increased. In order to provide a high quality transportation service to the public, a complete transportation asset maintenance and management system is required for the government. This project develops a Public Transportation Asset Maintenance and Management System based on the concepts of life cycle asset management, execution procedures of 20 maintenance tasks, and the implementation of a GIS/MIS platform. The system includes 55 database tables and 5 major subsystems, which are: 1) Planning subsystem, 2) Resource Assignment subsystem, 3) Maintenance subsystem, 4) Performance Measurement subsystem, and 5) Public Service subsystem. This project also implements a PDA version of mobile maintenance system to assist inspectors transmit inspection results back to the server using GPRS at job site or auto-syncing at offices. As a result, the Maintenance and Management System will fully integrate the highway maintenances process, share the maintenance information, and elevate the values of transportation assets to maximize the performance of public transportation networks. |
