Summary | Structures in ports, exposed to harsh marine environments for extended periods, may experience material degradation, leading to a decline in performance and a potential reduction in their operational lifespan due to damages. Therefore, timely inspection, detection, and maintenance management of these harbor facilities are crucial. Presently, port authorities heavily rely on manual visual inspections by personnel, complemented by periodic instrument testing. However, constrained by limited manpower and budgetary constraints, many issues in facilities often go unnoticed and untreated. This research aims to explore the application of emerging technologies in the inspection and detection of terminal facilities. It involves analyzing current challenges in the inspection and detection of terminal facilities, along with a review of maintenance management systems and component degradation standards. The goal is to enhance the inspection and detection operations of harbor structures, employing more efficient and digitized methods to assist maintenance managers in implementing effective maintenance management systems and improving overall maintenance efficiency. RESEARCH RESULTS AND BENEFITS: 1. Offering port authorities examples and suggestions for the application of emerging technologies in terminal inspections, along with improvements in inspection and detection operations, to enhance the effectiveness of harbor structure maintenance management. 2. The harbor facilities on-site inspection mobile application (APP) is designed to facilitate port authorities in conducting on-site inspections of terminals, effectively enhancing the efficiency of inspection tasks. APPLICATION AVAILABILITY: In addition to serving as a valuable reference for port management units in carrying out maintenance and management of harbor facilities, the research outcomes, along with the recommended detection methods, can also be utilized by domestic port authorities and engineering consulting companies. Furthermore, they can serve as essential references for future research endeavors conducted by our institution in this field. |
