Summary | Published in May 2003 IOT SERIAL No. 92-13-3236, pp. This project is conducted under the Improvement Program for Traffic Order and Safety, which is in response to a decree issued by the Executive Yuan. Through a computer analysis of the accident data in 2001 in Taiwan area, the study identified the accident-prone locations throughout Taiwan area. To have a better understanding about those locations, field study teams were organized. Team members include officers from Road Traffic Safety Commission, the Institute Of Transportation, the Highway Bureau, the National Police Administration and the transportation bureau, police and engineering offices of local governments. After in-depth discussions with the team members, this project has proposed an improvement plan for each accident-prone location. This year, totally 219 accident-prone locations have been identified. The total cost to improve those locations is NT$102,649,448 and the average cost for each location is approximately NT$470,000. |
