Summary | Since Taiwan is densely populated, it is essential to introduce the concept of green transportation at the early stage of urban planning in order to restrict the unnecessary expansion of urban boundaries, to reduce the government budget expenditure, to facilitate the effective utilization of land resources, and to increase the comfort of the living environment. Accordingly, this study aims to introduce the concept of “green transportation oriented development” into the urban development process to promote and apply the proposed integrated model of the green transportation system and land use planning. Based on an in-depth re-examination of the previously proposed integrated model of the green transportation system and land use planning, this project aims to revise the manual handbook and hold training seminars to provide operational guidelines to related authorities and practitioners. Four major results can be identified as: 1. to revise the green transportation oriented planning model, guidelines and measurement indicators, 2. to conduct four case studies to validate the applicability of the proposed model, 3. to revise the green transportation oriented planning manual handbook, and 4. to propose an implemental mechanism for promoting the application of the proposed integrated model. Based on the research results and the validity for future applications, five suggestions are identified: 1. to propose performance measurement indicators of green transportation for evaluating the greenness of urban planning, 2. to continuously expand the case studies on the integration of the green transportation system and land use, 3. to propose the framework for evaluating the level of service for bikeways and walkways, 4. to corporate with local government to conduct field applications, and 5. to revise the related laws and regulations. |
