Summary | For the purposes of providing the public with convenient traffic information services, Institute of Transportation (IOT) has performed three projects to help Taichung and Kaohsiung Cities building up urban traffic information centers since 2003. These three projects have completed the integration of traffic information collected from different agencies, planning the appropriate information dissemination methods, and building ATIS bases for further development. Based on the prior projects, this project performs the following tasks: Evaluating the existing services and expanding new functions to the system developed by “Development of The Urban Traffic Information System” project, such as route guidance, modification of traffic performance model, allocation of the traffic information system equipments, and dissemination of traffic information on XML format. Planning ITS development and promotion strategies meeting the transportation needs of 2009 World Games by assisting Kaohsiung City Government in planning and performing the traffic management plan. These strategies are categorized as real-time transit information provision, transit fleet management and dispatching, real-time road traffic surveillance, and advanced traffic information services. Developing a multi-language smart phone and PDA information request initiative by employing the agent technology. This system provides inquiring information in Chinese, English, and Japanese on personal information, traffic information, game information, and accommodation information and reservation services of accommodation, transportation tickets, and game tickets. |
