Summary | On July 21, 2000, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the U.S. designated “511” as American traveler information number, and began to deploy this nationwide service. Up to March 2005, 511 services have been operating in 23 states in the U.S., and the implementation guidelines for 511 services were also published as the references of deploying 511 services in the U.S. As the 511 service is a telephonic and nationwide service, to establish the service, the government authority has to face three major issues: content, consistency, and cost. In this research, we deliberated America’s 511 service implementation guidelines and deployment experiences, and analyzed the ATIS development state in Taiwan. At last we proposed appropriate suggestions for implementing domestic 511 services. |
