Summary | In response to potential impacts of climate change, this project took two years (2014-2015) to complete two crucial items as “risk map and information platform of adaptive climate change of major railways and roads” Those items are intended to serve as references for authorities for their risk evaluation and information platforms related to climate change adaptation in the future.
Therefore, this project referenced domestic and international studies and experiences on vulnerability and risk caused by climate change, and reviewed the 2013 report of “Vulnerability Indices for Climate Change of the Railway and Highway Systems and Strategic Direction for Adaptation”, to re-establish vulnerability indices for railway and highway systems in the face of climate change and map hotspots of higher vulnerability. This project also researched and analyzed appropriate indices of the risk evaluation of major railways and roads in climate change, and researched appropriate risk management mechanisms. Finally, this project used Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to build the “Climate Change Assessment Indicators Display System” as a tool to assess points of vulnerability of major railway and road systems as a result of climate change. It aims to strengthen the integrated capabilities for adjustment effectiveness, analysis, and decision making. In addition, this project also completed the planning for a platform for adaptation information of railways and highways to serve reference for the construction of an information platform in the second year. |
