| Summary | Published in May 2004 IOT SERIAL No. 93-46-695, 246pp. We will focus on developing Advanced Traffic Management Services, Advanced Traveler Information Services, Advanced Public Transportation Services, Commercial Vehicle Operation Services, and Electronic Payment Services in the future. Projects on Emergency Management Services, Advanced Vehicle Control and Safety Services, Vulnerable Individual Protection Services, and Information Management Services will also be conducted consecutively to meet the social development needs. To solve the possible major problems encountered, the key work of ITS development includes initiating the overall plans, drawing up the relative supplement measures, deploying the solid ITS infrastructure, conducting the research development/demonstration pioneering projects and implementing deployment/extension work of ITS services bundles, reinforcing the extension education, participating the international cooperation, and developing the ITS-related industries. The advances of ITS application technologies are rapid and users’ needs change in accordance with the social development change. Besides, with extensive experience in research development and promotion of ITS, the ITS master plan will be updated either periodically or not to meet users’ needs, reflect the status of implementation, and match future policies. |
