Summary This project is focused on enhancing the current operational performance of highway traffic. Mature domestic and foreign microscopic traffic flow simulation software is introduced, thereby reflecting road geometrics, traffic flow behavior, and driver characteristics. In addition, the introduced software is capable of establishing and analyzing strategic models for traffic control, which acts as a platform for the localization and verification of regional road networks. The primary content of this project involves road network data collection within the research scope to simulate road network construction, conduct empirical verifications and software parameter modifications and evaluations, as well as simulate and compare simulations of the advanced ramp metering control strategies. Finally, the application of the microscopic traffic flow simulation software to traffic control strategies can be assessed.
