| Summary | Helicopter transportation is a new service that will be introduced into the domestic air passenger and cargo markets in Taiwan in the near future. The government regulations will have a great impact on demands and benefits of the consumers of the current air transportation market. This study has investigated the operation cost characteristics of helicopters, and compared them with those of the small fixed-wing aircraft which have the approximate number of seats (capacities). In addition, the study has compared the overall socioeconomic benefits of constructing a new airport with those of the promotion of helicopter air transportation. At last, some suggestions are provided for the government and the air carrier industry to plan the development of helicopter transportation. |
