| Summary | Published in June 2003 IOT SERIAL No.92-74-753，98pp. This Geographic Information System for Oceanographical Observation Data at Harbors in Taiwan is one of the subsystems of GIS built by IHMT. The desired functions of the GIS are field data search of tide, current, wind and wave near the Taiwan five Harbors (Kee-lung Harbor, Tai-Chung Harbor, Kao-Hsiung Harbor, Haw-Lien Harbor and Su-Ao Harbor). And the details contained in this system include the records of observation, the monthly reports, the time series of data, statistic diagrams and statistic tables. This year’s research effort has been focused on the building up Geographic information System developed on Mapinfo. The present system has collected historical field data at Tai-Chung and Haw-Lien Harbors. More work is needed to include data at more sites and to improve the system in the future. The goal of the project is to integrate field data and geographic information system to provide criteria for decision-making officials and useful information for engineering design. |
