| Summary | Published in March 2003 IOT SERIAL No.92-18-686，486pp. Because of lengthened average citizen life span, our societal population structure is aging in higher speed recently. Nowadays Taiwan has been an aging society. Elder citizens have different transportation characteristics from the younger generation, so transportation system in Taiwan needs to provide special concern for elders’ demand in transportation planning. Planning for the elderly needs to understand special transportation demand and characteristics of elders and analyzes the impact on the current transportation environment. According to these basic analyses, integrating planning and design could be proposed to build more appropriate transportation environment for elders. In-depth analysis of elders’ demand for Intelligent Transportation System is also required, in order to design ITS application items and implementation strategies in an aging society. Reaching the balance of “Technology” and “Humanity” is the ultimate goal of this project. This project based on elders’ transportation demand, studies ITS technology application in an aging society. It also studies the possibility of participation from private industries and correlated supporting plans, thus building implementation strategies at different stages, to meet the goal of test, feedback, and promotion of plan. |
