Summary | To convey the status and capacity of Taiwan’s transportation systems in 2010, this report aims to present and analyze the major construction projects, infrastructure status, general operations information, capacity, demand growth trend , and level of service of various transportation systems, including railways, highways, maritime transportation, civil aviation, and urban transportation, respectively. This study also investigates the aggregate modes usage models. The results show that the usage of passenger car was related to length of public transport operation, distance between HSR stations and number of low income households. The ration of motorcycle usage had correlated with motorcycle hold rates, area of land, and population. Length of inter-city public transit operation, frequency of public transit, population, area of land, passenger car and motorcycle hold rates and distance between TRA stations influence the usage of public transit. Under the policies of public transit promotion, the administrators can not only increase public transit supply such as length of service or frequency but also restrain private modes usage. For users' convenience, this report is available online ( http://www.iot.gov.tw/). |
