Summary The fundamental purpose of the input-output framework is to analyze the inter-dependence of industries in the macro-economy. As we know, an input-output model in its most basic form consists of a system of linear equation, each one of which describes the distribution of an industry’s product throughout the economy, so the term inter-industry analysis is also used.  The Institute of Transportation (IOT) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications had completed the first Taiwan Area Integrated Transportation System Planning (TAITSP) since 1976, second TAITSP on 1986, and now it has finished third TAITSP. Each IOT TAITSP projects has great impact on the development of Taiwan Area transportation. At the same time it has direct and indirect influence on Taiwan’s region, at counties, cities, inland transportation, air transportation, and water transportation. But due to a lack of research on industrial economics and transportation, we can’t understand the inter-dependence of industries in transportation sector with other sectors, and there is no evaluation criterion to analyze reasonable distribution of resources and optimal effects of benefit.   In order to understand interdependence of industries on transportation sector development and transportation resources distribution. Through this study, it is found that transportation sector’s GDP percentage is usually stable. The transportation sector input-output structure is mainly highway transportation. On the other hand, transportation sector forward linkage coefficient is a little high, but backward linkage coefficient is low. The third, as produces for every million NT dollars that the transportation sector produces 2.71 job opportunities will be created, and water transportation & transportation service have features of the strategic industries. In accordance with logistics distribution and transportation industries’ privatization, and having two days off a week, we must value transportation service and travel service industries in the long run development.
