Summary | According to ITS strategies developed by MOTC, the employment of traffic control system can effectively improve intersection performance. Retiming traffic signals is one of the most cost-effective techniques to relieve congestion and improve safety on roads. This project investigates the benefits of retiming signals that include air quality improvement, fuel consumption reduction, traffic congestion relief, and many other benefits. In general, this project conducts the following tasks. Collecting traffic data for retiming and analyzing domestic traffic characteristics that related to signal timing plan, such as motorcycling characteristic, traffic volumes, and etc. Developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for retiming traffic signals. Analyzing questionnaire and holding seminars to discuss requirements. Conducting retiming demonstrations in selected areas and assessing the benefits and improvements. |
