Summary | Published in July 2004 IOT SERIAL No. 93-93-5255, 398 pp. Real-time traffic information service is an important sector of ITS deployment, and is also the technology with most contact of people. Therefore, establishing real-time traffic information service is vital in accomplishing the goals of ITS. In Taiwan's ITS development, real-time traffic information service is relatively an earlier developed and a more mature technology. With the M.O.T.C’s endeavors, a variety of several information services are already available in daily life. Even though real-time traffic information service is already in progress, the research in integrating user services is insufficient. Lack of understanding of user demand could lead to poor information service and thus creates little help in trip decision-making. The accomplishment of this project focuses on building an overall traffic information center that provides information of land, air, and marine transportation. This information center gathers and provides international and domestic flight information, inter-island ferry information, and roadway traffic information. The information center also provides a contact window for the public with traffic information, uniform data format, and data access control, to manage the overall traffic information. Further data usage such as value-added application could also be considered to promote the development of traffic information services and related industries. |
