Summary | This project is the third phase of (Establishment of transportation network kernel database of the national geographic information system), since the geographic database is about to be established, the focus of this national transportation GIS project should be in the stage of system architecture design and application development. In the system architecture design, network security is also considered. Beside the maintenance mechanism needs to be addressed, this research is mainly emphasized on network security and firewall system and Open GIS. To investigate the feasibility of adopting the Open GIS architecture into this national transportation GIS project, document published from Open GIS Consortium was studied in the areas of database SQL and Web map interface, and a demonstration was also implemented. Results show that the Open GIS architecture is suitable for an open environment for its inter-changability and inter-operability in the areas of transportation application, such as traffic safety, public transportation, bridge management, and transportation planning, etc. Outcomes and achievements of this research are listed as follows, (1)Study of database SQL, Web map, and database management system under OpenGIS architecture, (2)Establishment of real time freeway traffic database WebGIS system under OpenGIS concept, (3)Enhancement of real time freeway traffic WebGIS information system, (4)Demonstration of Oracle 8i spatial module, (5)Study in network security and establishment of firewall system, |
