| Summary | The eastern part of Taiwan features low-pollution, diversified landscapes, humanities, and abundant resources. It is an optimal place for the development of bicycle tourism. In light of this, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications promoted the “Bicycle Network Demonstration Plan for Eastern Taiwan” from 2009 to 2012. It is expected that about an additional 381.7 kilometers of bike trail can be completed by the end of 2011. To enhance interaction through the website and provide bike trail travel information better meeting the general public demand, it is expected 1. To establish the database for bike trail systems between 2009 and 2011, including the prototype bicycle network system for Eastern Taiwan that has been planned and completed as part of the “Bicycle Network Demonstration Plan for Eastern Taiwan” initiated by the Institute of Transportation, which will be completed by the end of this fiscal year. The database will encompass bike trails and images and photos taken every along the trails especially at the facilities, rest area and pavement change. 2. To create panoramas every 500m along the trails especially at the attractions, intersections and stations. The results are shown at existing website system . The existing website system will comprise the version for professionals and that for the general public and will include mobile phone guided tour system support platforms. 3. To private businesses which will plan and be responsible for the marketing of the website and promoting the click-through rate of the website. The goal is to develop the website as a main portal for bicycle information in Eastern Taiwan. |
