Summary The government has continued to provide reliable and real time traffic information. In 2004, the Institute of Transportation (IOT) launched the “National Traffic Information Center” web services, which has assisted 23 city/county governments in Taiwan in joining the real-time traffic information on-line reporting system. Through 2009, the “National Traffic Information Center” has integrated the real-time information of VD, CMS and CCTV, not only from the National Expressway Bureau and Directorate General of Highways, but also from 10 city/county traffic information centers, which makes the traffic information more comprehensive. In the e-Plan Trip Planner, the major task was to integrate e-map solutions to expand the existing website functions and to consolidate the transportation information database. The new version of the decision-making process has added sightseeing activities, e-maps and a GUI for travelers to provide the public with more convenient and abundant public transportation information services. Now, IOT will supply an integrated web service of “The National Traffic Information Center” and “e-Plan Trip Planner” in 2010, as well as focus on the development of an intelligent and customization information system to make the service even more convenient and versatile.
