| Summary | The study is the second stage of emendating (The Highway Capacity Manual in Taiwan) and will provide the IOT the foundation of revising capacity analysis for two-lane intercity highways and some related adjustment factors. The research objects are the characteristic of two-lane intercity highways in Taiwan, including geometry characteristics, surrounding characteristics, traffic volume, car speed, traffic composing and overtaking behavior. Besides 12 flat sections in the first stage, we selected five two-lane sections, including four gradient sections and one flat section for survey. We recorded traffic flow characteristics of each survey station by video for 2 hours a day, 4 successive days, including holidays. According to peak hour distribution of each day, we analyze many parameters. The results of this survey will provide the method or procedure of revising capacity analysis for two-lane intercity highways in Taiwan. |
