| Summary | Pavement can provide safety, fastness and comfort for road users. Adequate maintenance works have to be done at the right time to maintain acceptable serviceability level during the service life of pavement. Furthermore, from the economical viewpoint, the total budget of maintenance also has to be minimized . Due to the effects of traffic and environment on pavement, the service life of pavement is shorter than other infrastructures such as bridges, tunnels, etc. Pavement usually deteriorates after construction. However, the quality of our daily life depends greatly on the quality of the pavement. Inadequate maintenance works will result in unsafe conditions. Consequently, timely maintenance is important and has to be attended to. |
