Summary This is the last year of the three-year project which was conducted to restructure the curriculums and design the course content for driver education, and thereafter establish the databank for the written examination of driver licensing. Six subjects concerning the basic knowledge of automobiles and motorcycles, which are: (1) Basic Structure and Driving Skills for Automobiles, (2) Basic Concepts Related to Driving Safety on Urban and Country Roads for Automobiles, (3) Basic Concepts Related to Driving Safety in Special Environments, Weather, Freeways and Expressways for Automobiles, (4) Basic Structure and Driving Skills for Motorcycles, (5) Basic Concepts Related to Driving Safety on Urban and Country Roads for Motorcycles, (6) Basic Concepts Related to Driving Safety in Special Environments, Weather and Expressways for Motorcycles. For each subject, a teacher’s handbook is prepared with supplementary materials for teaching, and some experimental items are also designed for the written examination of driver licensing.

  The completion of the 3-year study will help the examination writers or laymen to gain correct driving knowledge and techniques. For the driving class operators, it will help to increase the operation competitiveness, and the government related units can use the study to explore the reform direction and follow-up focus on the domestic driver licensing curriculum contents, test and databank for review and updates. The implementation of the study result will help the drivers to develop a correct driving attitude and technique, and increase road safety and diver quality.
