| Summary | In accordance with "The Alternatives for the Promotion of the Development of Public Transportation Sectors" approved by the Executive Yuan in 1995, this research is carried out mainly to evaluate the feasibility of Kaohsiung City development of a bus-exclusive-lane system so that the operational performance and the bus system’s level of service in Kaohsiung can be improved. Based on the results of this study, it is concluded that the proposed bus-exclusive-lane system in Kaohsiung is feasible in the assessment of engineering, economic, finance and social acceptance. In addition, three networks of the bus-exclusive-lane system for short-term, mid-term and long-term development in Kaohsiung are further suggested in this study. Last but not least, the Chung-Shan road is selected as the demonstrative road for bus-exclusive-lane in which a sketch planning and design is provided for the reference of further implementation by the Kaohsiung City Government. |
