Summary | This project is conducted under the 9th Improvement Program for Traffic Order and Safety, in response to a decree issued by the Executive Yuan. (No.31101) Through statistics analysis of the accident data from 2006 in Taiwan, the study identifies the accident-prone locations throughout Taiwan. To have a better understanding about those locations, field study teams are organized. The team members include officers from the Road Traffic Safety Commission, the Institute of Transportation, the Highway Bureau, the National Police Administration, the transportation bureau, and police and engineering offices of local governments. After in-depth discussions with the team members, this project has proposed an improvement plan for each accident-prone location. This year, a total of 154 accident-prone locations have been identified. The total cost to improve those locations is NT$31,504,086 and the average cost to improve a location is approximately NT$205,000. |
