Summary Technology relating to Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) has been extensively applied in numerous fields of transportation. In traffic control, roadways are monitored using various detection techniques to identify traffic characteristics and determine current traffic conditions. These data are then directed to traffic control centers through wired or wireless Internet for data integration, analysis, and valuation. The processed data are typically used as the basis of formulating or the threshold of accessing traffic control strategies; for example, flexible traffic orientation development (TOD), travel route guidance, and travel information service. Therefore, the completeness and accuracy of data is critical.

This project endeavors to evaluate different data probing technologies to examine the algorithms of data processing methods, including data screening and interpolation processes. Consequently, the results are anticipated to allow this project to develop effective preventive mechanisms against data loss and failure during practical operations, and to subsequently establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the seams in traffic conditions. In addition, traffic condition data are used to perform data extension computations to ensure data service exchange, and subsequently propose strategies and preliminary planning for future applications of traffic data in the environment of cloud computing.
