| Summary | With the opevation of Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), the passenger share of transportation market in the west of Taiwan is changing because of the advantage of speed and punctuality of THSR. The present research is to assess the impacts of the opevation of THSR on the other public transport modes. The operation difficulties faced by those inferior public transportation carriers and their demanded assistances from the government are also examined. Except the theoretic analysis, this research collects the opinions from those related experts by holding seminars. It is hoped that the research results could help to form the public transportation policies which will improve the balance of regional development. With the improvement of public transportation, the transportation system in Taiwan could gradually step forward to sustainability. |
