Summary | There are nearly 23,000 highway bridges in Taiwan, which are mainly managed and maintained by freeway bureaus, highway bureaus and county governments. According to the Highway Law, each bridge management agency should usually conduct inspection operations for the bridges under its jurisdiction to ensure that Maintain bridge safety. Bridge inspection is mainly based on visual inspection, supplemented by instruments. Most people use hiking and climbing methods to get as close to the bridge structure as possible to visually determine the condition of the bridge. When it comes to cross-water bridges or bridges over tidal rivers with narrow beam bottom clearance, the safety risks are higher because the beam bottoms are often in repeated contact with water and air, and it is difficult for people and machines to enter for inspection. Therefore, our firm discloses After the preliminary plan, the cart-type bridge detection tool was completed based on the design structure of easy assembly, easy operation and portability, and related inspection parts were refined. The prototype bridge inspection tool can now stably extend and move under the bridge to take images of the bottom of the bridge. It helps to improve the quality, efficiency and safety of personnel in bridge inspection operations. In 2022, Institute of Transportation, MOTC improved the bridge detection tool and refined its functions to improve the stability of inspection images and equipment operations, and the basic inspection functions became mature and stable. Therefore, this project plans to cooperate with ITRI in 2023. Based on the previous plan and development, we will continue to adjust and optimize the relevant components and operations of bridge detection tools, develop bridge detection tool user manuals, and plan technology transfer to provide bridge maintenance management agencies with future practical applications in order to continue to improve the quality and efficiency of highway bridge inspections in Taiwan. BENEFITS AND APPLICATIONS: The results and testing examples of this study can provide application and reference for central (National Land Management Agency of MOI, Freeway Bureau of MOTC, Highway Bureau of MOTC, etc.) and local (city-county) governments in bridge maintenance management by the competent authorities. |
