Summary | Prompted by the Executive Yuan’s “Action Plan for Development of the International Logistics Service Industry,” the Ministry of Transportation and Communications launched this study to facilitate the development of the international logistics service industry, enhance the integration of regional supply-chain resources, and reinforce the global logistics capabilities of businesses in Taiwan. It is hoped that we transform Taiwan into an important value-adding logistics center for the Asia-Pacific region.
This study includes the establishment of the transportation logistics knowledge management system and the clarification of its database, sources, and the structure for analysis and applications. The system is set to serve as a supportive foundation for future transportation and logistics policies making. Looking to the future, the development of globalization and regional economy, as well as the fast changes in international and crossstrait relations, has made the acquisition and integration of global resources the key to success for multinational businesses. Therefore, improving transportation logistics performance and strengthening our competitiveness have become one of the most important development policy objectives in recent years. The study further investigates six prospective topics of transportation logistics development to facilitate the exchanges and sharing of knowledge in the transportation logistics field.
