Summary | Public transportation systems are adopted as an effective means to tackle deteriorating traffic conditions, energy consumption, and air pollution. However, cross-carrier transfer is a must for public transit since the door-to-door service is not possible, which causes the inconvenience and uncertainty for public transit usage. The objective of this research is to propose strategies, action plans, and evaluation indexes to improve the quality of service information in order to promote the service of public transits.
The major contributions of this research are: (1) Propose four strategies for improving quality of service information for public transit. (2) Design a set of evaluation indexes to access the quality of service information for transfer station and relevant website. (3) Recommend data accommodation items to the Public Transport Data eXchange(PTX) platform based on analyzing the data demand of value-adding third parties. (4) Propose visual standards for guidance symbols used in transfer stations and website. (5) Propose a visualization interface to display service information for transfer stations. (6) Propose solid action plans for improving quality of public transit information in the Yilan region. |
