Summary | Both the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Institute of Transportation are actively carrying out research on communications architecture in order to answer to the demands of the next generation of communications architecture, and at the same time study how to adapt the different types of communications networks and their different NTCIP criteria so as to ensure that the formulated modules of the ITS system have “mutual operability” and “mutual replacement-ability” during the period of operation. The related project results include (1) reference to the requirements of both international and domestic criteria in order to draft and define a catalogue and collection of reference data for Taiwan’s urban area ATMS, APTS and ATIS applications, (2) quantitative analysis of communications protocol for the transportation detector system, (3) formulation of communications protocol and mechanisms which need to cross modules of transportation management and harmonize with the operations as well as the study of communications protocols and mechanisms for public bus priority signaling, (4) simulation and system testing of the movement and control of public bus priority signaling. In view of the procedure for promoting “Intelligent Traffic Control Systems”, all of the county and city governments will be in need of upgrading traffic control and management requirements as well as making changes to communications technology. Therefore, the main points of the project work include (1) carrying out a review and discussion of the “Third Edition of the Urban Area Traffic Control Communications Protocol” together with a preliminary draft of revisions, (2) carrying out the update and maintenance of the “Standardized Urban Traffic Control System Software” in urban traffic control laboratory of IOT, (3) carrying out the integrated test for the laboratory system, (4) accommodating the promotion of the standardized urban area traffic control system and carrying out training for the “Urban Area Traffic Control System Standardized Software”. |
