Summary The National ITS Architecture provides a common structure for the design of ITS. It defines the functions that must be performed by components or subsystems, where these functions reside, the interfaces and information flows between subsystems, and the communication requirements for the information flows in order to address the underlying user service requirements. It aims at facilities interconnectability, data interchangeability and operation interoperability (3I). The architecture consists of User Services units, Logical Architecture, Physical Architecture, and Equipment Packages and Market Packages.
According to the international experiences, many countries(for example America, Japan, and European Union)have finished the studies on ITS system architectures and have also published the Official Documents for National System Architecture of ITS for ITS developments. The objectives of this study are to review the Official Documents for National System Architecture of other countries, decide the structure, and edit the contents of Official Documents for National System Architecture in Taiwan.
