Summary       The purpose of performance-based design is to ensure that designs, evaluations, and constructions of engineered facilities whose performance under common and extreme earthquake ground motion are able to respond to the diverse needs and objectives of the owners, users and society. Performance-based design is also an important trend. Since Kaohsiung Harbor began twelve-year project to develop the harbor in 1959, it has been far more than 50 years. Therefore, it is necessary to reassess and recheck the seismic design of in-used harbor structure in Kaohsiung.
