| Summary | The multic-year study on the development of basic roadway data management system was started since 2000. The developed system integrates the Geographic Information System (GIS), Global Position System (GPS) and roadway image collection devices to maintain the roadside environment images and roadway inventory data. Up to 2004, the storage of the roadway inventory data and the images of roadside environment of 6,000 kilometers long provincial and county roadways in the northern Taiwan, central Taiwan and southern Taiwan have been stored into the roadways inventory database of the system. In this years study, we have integrated the data of the past studies and the widespread roadside data of Directorate General of Highways. We also have used the digital video to investigate the other provincial and county roadways not included in the past studies which are about 2300 kilometers long. Meanwhile, the management system has been redesigned and popularized to fit the user requirement. |
