Summary | This study aims to calibrate and validate an advanced microscopic traffic simulator ( PARAMICS ) by building a simulation network in Taiwan area. By choosing Taipei city as the study area, we identified the feasibility and performance for applying PARAMICS to domestic ITS project. We have obtained the following outcomes: (1)Filing those geometric characteristics, O-D trips, and traffic management and control data of Taipei city with PARAMICS compatible data format. (2)Constructing a completed Taipei city network comprised by all roads with 8-meter width and above. (3)Calibrating drivers’ ehavior parameters of PARAMICS. (4)Establishing a local calibration and validation procedure of microscopic traffic simulators. (5)Conducting a PARAMICS testing and validation study via some local case studies for identifying the application feasibility of PARAMICS. (6)Proposing future promotion strategies and application plans for PARAMICS in order to facilitate the application potential of advanced microscopic traffic simulators in the domestic ITS field. |
