Summary | The object of this study is to improve the efficiency of railway operations. This study starts from the IT-based facility management by developing the database architecture and prototype for basic railway facilities. The results will become the information axis among all business systems. The prototype of the basic facility database will also become a foundation of decision-making support for railway management, operation and maintenance.
This study begins with reviews on related domestic and foreign papers, and then confirms the user requirements through deep interviews with the users. System analysis is also applied in developing the database architecture of railway facilities. This study makes the preliminary inventory for the Taiwan Railway facility data. The related attributes that contain geographical positions are collected, and data fields are designed based on different properties of business concerns for specific facilities. This Study develops a prototype railway facility database system based on the facilities along the rail lines between Xincheng Station and Hualien Station. This system is provided to demonstrate and examine the study results. Finally, this study proposes annual projects for the following 2 or 3 years, for them to become the basis of the Decision Support System (DSS). With these proposals, TRA is expected to gradually develop a perfect facility management system as a basis for the Maintenace Management Information System (MMIS). |
