Summary It is a consensus among planners to make an integrated planning between transportation and land use. However, since the interactions between these two sectors are comprehensive and complex, and the detailed investigations are hard to be proceeded in the planning tasks, the planning rules for integrated planning are necessary. Based on the literature review, this study gatheres the conclusions of the past researches and arranges them into the prototype rule bank. We hope to establish the complete rule bank in the future.

The contents of this study include three parts:

(1) Over one hundred references on the impact study between transportation and land use for Taiwan Area in the past twenty-five years are reviewed, and future research directions are recommended.

(2) The prototype criteria bank arranged from the reviewed references are displayed for the usage of planning staffs.

(3) Many study issues based on the need for generating the complete criteria bank are recommended to interested researchers.
