Summary | The strategies proposed by this study for Kaohsiung intermodal transportation are fivefold: (1) Innovative Service Strategy, (2) Management Mechanics, (3) Boundary Removing Strategy, (4) Operation Environment Improvement Strategy, and (5) Green Economic Strategy. Important conclusions and suggestions derived from the study are : For the Kaohsiung area industry development stage and the favorable future development model, it is recommended to have the operation mode of priority development of the import and export mode, in which the parent company in Taiwan will take the orders, foreign or Taiwanese suppliers will provide the raw materials, then after it is produced or processed in Taiwan, it will be exported directly. Continuously improve customs operations and review the related regulations. Improve the Kaohsiung port free-trade zone (FTZs) operations, strategies, such as the provision of preferential schemes, and incentives for investment. Consolidating Kaohsiung docks near the surrounding industrial and science-based Industrial Park, providing commitment to the development of the customs territory of the Kaohsiung area and International logistics center. Establishing strategic alliances to strengthen international logistics capability to support the development of intermodal transport. Strengthening the introducing new industries to the great Kaohsiung area to increase the supply of goods and transport, and then upgrading the aviation facilities. |
