| Summary | Published in June 2003 IOT SERIAL No.92-72-751,86pp. There are many chemical compositions in seawater, and their components are varied due to estuarine outlet, industrial wastewater, life sewage and ship oil pollution. Seawater is a severe corroded environment for most metals. Steel-made structures such as wharf steel-piles, pipelines, and pull rods are immersed in seawater all year long. Corrosion is inevitable. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze seawater variations, when surveying the wharf sheet-piles physical corrosion situations. In the study, seawater at five major ports (Kao-Shung, Keel-Lung, Tai-Chung, Hwa-ling, Sue-Au) was analyzed in different season period. Results showed that characters of seawater in different ports varied in water temperature at 17.5~31.0 ℃, dissolved oxygen 4.5~8.4 mg/l, Cl- concentrations within 14000~24300 ppm, pH values of 7.25~8.99, and conductivity of 38.0~52.5 mmho/cm. |
